Planning your Wedding Photography

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!  I know that planning your wedding photography can be a lot of work.   I’d like to help. Here are a few helpful tips to get you started.

1. Do your research. Before you even start contacting photographers, it’s important to do your research. Look at different photographers’ websites and portfolios to get a sense of their style and experience. You should also read reviews from other brides to see what they thought of their experience.
2. Set a budget. Weddings can be expensive, so it’s significant to set a budget before you start shopping around. This will help you narrow down your options and avoid overspending.
3. Interview photographers. Once you’ve found a few photographers that you’re interested in, it’s time to interview them. Ask them about their experience, their style, and their pricing. You should also ask them about their availability on your wedding day.
4. Book your photographer. Once you’ve found a photographer that you love, it’s time to book them! Be sure to read the contract carefully before signing anything. And don’t forget to ask about any additional fees, such as travel expenses.

Now that you have a few tips, it’s time to start planning your wedding photography! With a bit of effort, you’ll be able to find the perfect photographer to capture your special day.

Here are a few more specific tips on how to plan your wedding photograph

Think about on your style. What sort of photos do you really love and want in your album or on your wall.?  Do you like traditional posed photos, or do you want more candid shots?  Do you want bright and airy photos, or do you want moody and dramatic photos? Once you have a good idea of what you want, you can start to look for photographers who specialize in that style.
Think about the timeline of your day.

How much time do you want to spend on photos? Do you want to do all of your photos before the ceremony, or do you want to do some during the ceremony and some after? Once you know how much time you have, you can start to plan out your photo session.
Be prepared to be flexible. Things don’t always go according to plan on a wedding day, so it’s important to be prepared to be flexible with your photo plans. If the weather changes, or if your guests are running late, you’ll need to roll with it.  Your photographer should be used to this, so will take it in their stride…
Enjoy the process! Wedding photography should be fun, so try to relax and enjoy the process. The more you enjoy yourself, the more your photos will reflect that.

I hope these tips help you plan your wedding photography! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me. I’m always happy to help.
